Maintenance of Aluminium Products
Any organic coating will require regular cleaning to retain its aesthetic qualities.
The frequency of cleaning required will depend on the environment in which the installation is located. In normal urban areas, the recommended maximum period between cleaning is 12 months. If an installation is in a more extreme environment, the recommended time between cleaning may be reduced to 3 months.
General Cleaning
Welglaze powder-coated aluminium windows and doors can be cleaned using a mild solution of detergent in warm water. The surfaces should be cleaned using a soft cloth, sponge or soft natural bristle brush. All areas should be rinsed after cleaning. Abrasive materials should be avoided as they can cause damage to the coating.
Heavy Cleaning
Where the coating has become heavily soiled, it may be not be possible to remove such soiling with mild detergent. There are a number of commercially available cleaners that have been tested by the powder coating manufacturers for heavier cleaning, but they should be used only on heavy soiled areas and should be thoroughly rinsed after cleaning. It is recommended that further information is requested from Welglaze; please see Enquiry Form.
